Storage Wars: Who is Lisa DeLarios?

Lisa DeLarios joined the Storage Wars party in 2021. She’s a reliable source of mirth on the Sky HISTORY show, but where did she cut her comedy teeth?

If you run out of space at home, one solution is to rent a locker where you can store surplus items. Now, if you do this in California, you must be careful not to fall behind with the rental payments.

That’s because state law entitles locals to bid for the contents of abandoned storage units. This rule has even inspired a hit reality show, Sky HISTORY’s Storage Wars.

Since the programme started in 2010, many of its stars, like auctioneers Dan and Laura Dotson and bidder Brandi Passante, have become household names. However, fresh blood has also been introduced over time.

Lisa DeLarios joined in 2021 and quickly became a fan favourite, but Storage Wars is far from her first brush with fame. Below, we at Sky HISTORY explore Lisa’s early life — and how she has long thrived in comedy, acting and even dog training!

Lisa’s early life

Lisa is relatively secretive about her personal life, even on social media sites where she is active, like Facebook and Instagram. However, in a 2024 interview on The Mike Henry Show, she spoke a lot about her formative years.

Lisa revealed that she was born in Dallas, one of the most populous cities in Texas. ‘Then I kind of grew up in the woods in East Texas, so not near any stage lights of any sort. I didn’t take theatre in school.’

At the age of 19, she visited New York City to meet up with a friend. While there, Lisa took a stand-up comedy class at the New School for Social Research. She credits this experience with giving her the performance bug.

The following year, 1995, she moved permanently to the Big Apple, the launchpad for her stand-up career. Within a few years, she even found herself doing a table read for a voice-acting role in the now-legendary animated series Family Guy.

Lisa DeLarios - a woman of many passions

Though Lisa ultimately didn’t get the Family Guy gig, she still had plenty of other ‘odd jobs’ in the early days, including working as a nanny. At one point, she even attended LaGuardia Community College in New York City to train as an occupational therapist.

She has also described herself as a ‘lifelong animal lover’

. The nurturing side of Lisa’s personality came into play when she became a certified dog trainer. This remains her ‘professional job’ to this day.

Her Storage Wars highlights

Lisa made her Storage Wars debut in the 14th season. She has revealed few details about what originally motivated her to join the show’s long-established crew. Lisa has, however, enthused about her keen interest in antiques.

She’s certainly come across plenty of them on Storage Wars. Lisa’s comedy chops often come to the fore when she discovers what she’s actually landed a successful bid for. It seems we’re never far away from hearing Lisa uttering an amusing quip about her latest storage locker finds. She’s got plenty of history in that department.

Lisa gets a nasty shock

‘Zen is all about emptying the mind,’ Lisa pointed out in her debut season’s third episode. That was her quirky rationale for choosing what was, even by her own admission, a ‘mostly empty’ locker. Lisa went on to win the auction, even if several metallic implements she found in the unit baffled her.

Physician Dr Robert Drummond explained to her on-screen that two of these were lobotomy tools. Another she initially mistook for a juicer was actually designed for drilling holes into skulls.

Lisa’s face was a picture as Dr Drummond elaborated on the gruesome ways all these implements would actually be used in medical procedures.

Lisa zeroes in on the ‘DGL’

The Storage Wars gang don’t exactly go in blind. They get to briefly inspect a locker’s contents before deciding whether to bid for them. So, there is an element of strategy involved, and as the 15th season’s 18th episode begins, Lisa reckons she’s got a ‘type’.

She calls it the ‘dishevelled grandma locker’. ‘She’s the grandma that, like, didn’t have time to put rollers in her hair because she was too busy crocheting doilies. I’m definitely down with DGL.’

Hunting for yet another DGL pays off massively when Lisa gets her hands on $8,575 worth of goods. An old mask alone makes up $3,000 of that impressive total.
