Holocaust Memorial Day
Holocaust Remembrance Day
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place every year on 27th January, on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The day commemorates the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust alongside the millions of other people killed under the Nazi's persecution of other groups and in the genocides that followed.
In 2025, the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is 'For a Better Future', which encapsulates the collective responsibility of humankind to make the world a better place. It implores people to confront Holocaust denial, challenge prejudice and promote education about the Holocaust and more recent genocides. There will also be a focus on marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.
As part of this significant day of reflection, Sky HISTORY is airing a selection of documentaries that tell the stories of the countless people who lost their freedom and their lives.
