Holocaust Remembrance Day

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place every year on the 27 January on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The day commemorates the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust alongside the millions of other people killed under the Nazi's persecution of other groups and in genocides that followed.

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, Sky HISTORY spoke to 98-year-old Auschwitz survivor, Lily Ebert who shares her experience of the Holocaust on Tiktok. You can find out more about her experiences in the Holocaust below.

This year Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is asking people to light a candle in their windows on 27 January at 8pm to remember those who died in the Holocaust and those who are still among us like Lily Ebert.
