Borderland

Attempting a journey that killed those who first attempted it is a daunting task, but that’s exactly what six ordinary Americans are asked to do in Borderland. Split into three groups, they’re given the names of three illegal immigrants who died trying to cross from Mexico to the United States - the same fate that has befallen nearly 6,000 others in the desert over the last 15 years. The groups head to Mexico and Central America where they learn about the migrants’ lives. Then, in a tough twist, a frontier medical examiner instructs them to work their way back to the US alongside real migrants by any means necessary. That means river rafts, treks through gang- controlled jungles and even a ride on top of the infamous cargo train known as La Bestia. Finally, from cartel-held Sinaloa state, they attempt the journeys that proved fatal to their assigned migrants - a dangerous trek through the hot badlands. They’ll live... but will they learn?
