Baba Vanga’s predictions for 2024

Though Baba Vanga passed away in 1996, her visions continue to be regarded by many as significant. Here are some of her most significant predictions for 2024

Often described as the Nostradamus of the modern age, Baba Vanga was a Bulgarian mystic whose alleged prophetic abilities first brought her to public attention in the midst of World War II.

Blind since childhood, yet apparently able to see far into the future, she soon became a highly feted figure, with important individuals like Bulgarian tsar Boris III and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev reportedly consulting her in person. She has since been credited with predicting many dramatic events, from the tragic sinking of the Kursk submarine in the year 2001, to the world-changing terrorist attacks of 9/11. Her fame is all the more impressive when we consider the lack of written records detailing what exactly she did or did not say.

Though Baba Vanga passed away in 1996, her visions continue to be regarded by many as significant. Indeed, one of her reported predictions for 2023 – that we would witness solar activity which could have serious consequences for the Earth – seems to have been backed up by real-world events.

In August 2023, it was reported that NASA had detected a massive sunspot that could bring forth solar flares and ‘coronal mass ejections’ of solar plasma. Such events can wreak havoc with power grids and other infrastructure, with dire consequences for society.

However, assuming we get through this year in one piece, which of Baba Vanga’s scenarios might befall us in 2024? Let’s consider some of the most talked about prophecies.

An orbit alteration?

Solar flares weren’t the only astronomical phenomena on Baba Vanga’s psychic radar. She’s also said to have predicted an even more incredible event: an alteration in the very orbit of the Earth.

The orbits of bodies in the solar system are determined by gravitational forces and are always prone to change. However, such alterations typically take place in a very gradual way, over long time periods, so anything more radical would have dramatic outcomes for us all. Think climate disruption, spiking radiation levels, and all-round chaos we’d be frankly powerless to do anything about.

One of the most viscerally disturbing predictions attributed to Baba Vanga involves a ‘big country’ carrying out biological weapons tests or attacks.

A breakthrough in quantum computing?

The world is currently undergoing a machine learning revolution, so it’s understandable that generative AI technology like ChatGPT is hogging the headlines. Less discussed by the mainstream press is the fact that the field of quantum computing is also progressing at a breakneck pace.

Quantum computers are able to solve problems far more quickly than traditional computers through the application of quantum mechanical effects, and by using ‘qubits’ (quantum bits) as opposed to the more familiar ‘bits’.

It’s extraordinarily complex stuff that sounds like something from the realms of science fiction, but it’s certainly happening. And it’s incredible to imagine that Baba Vanga, a mystic living in the Bulgarian mountains, apparently foresaw a breakthrough in quantum computing in our time. If it does happen in 2024, it will inevitably accelerate the AI revolution even further, affecting the lives of almost everyone on Earth.

The advent of designer humans?

A much-discussed Baba Vanga prophecy involves human beings that are grown and born in labs. Or did she mean that humans could be ‘tweaked’ on genetic level, and thus be designed to their parents’ specifications? Whatever the precise truth of what the mystic envisioned, this is certainly dystopian stuff which is difficult to imagine happening as early as next year.

That said, it’s certainly possible that we’ll see startling advances in the fields of genetic testing, IVF and childbirth, with potential ramifications for how humans approach childbirth. We may not be about to enter the reality dreamt up by Aldous Huxley in Brave New World, where humans are grown in vats, but we may well be on the cusp of incredible changes.

Amazing medical breakthroughs?

We’ll end on a somewhat more optimistic note – namely, Baba Vanga’s prediction of humanity shackling cancer ‘with iron chains’. In other words, finally curing people of this scourge. Could 2024 be the year this happens?

Baba Vanga herself passed away from cancer, and it’s said that during an interview in 1990 she pinpointed the exact date of her death: 11 August 1996. If she’s anywhere like as accurate with her thoughts on medical breakthroughs, we may be looking ahead to a far brighter future for human health. That’s if we avoid being destroyed by a shift in the planet’s orbit, of course.
