Soviet backed coup in Afghanistan leads to doomed invasion

As invading Soviet troops pour into Afghanistan, Afghan President Hafizullah Amin is murdered in a Soviet-backed coup. Afghan Babrak Karmal, a product of the KGB, was installed in his place.
