COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS (“the Terms and Conditions”)

The promoter of this competition is AETN UK our address 1 Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith, London, W6 9YN.  AETN UK is the company that in these Terms and Conditions is called “we” or “us”.

These Terms and Conditions apply to this Competition and form a legally binding agreement between you and us.  Please note that we are entitled to amend these Competition Terms and Conditions and/or cancel the Competition without notice where this is necessary in our reasonable opinion for legal or administrative reasons.  Any changes to the Competition Terms and Conditions, notices of cancellation or other notices will be set out on this webpage.

Although this Competition is run by AETN UK, the terms and conditions of any third party supplier, including a prize provider may also apply and must be accepted and complied with by each winner.   These shall include compliance with any health and safety regulations which apply whilst the Prizewinners are being filmed enjoying the Prize and/or taking part in other promotional activity.

Please note that dates set out in these Terms and Conditions may be subject to change at any time.  In addition, we reserve the right, in our reasonable discretion, to add to, amend, vary or waive any of the other Terms and Conditions on reasonable notice.

Who Can Enter?

Entrants must meet all the eligibility criteria contained within these Terms and Conditions

The Competition is open to residents of the UK and Eire and excludes employees (and their families) of AETN UK, Sky Limited and their associated companies.

Entrants must be aged 18 or over on or before 10 January 2018.

All personal details & information you supply must be truthful and accurate.

We reserve the right to verify your eligibility & to check your identity. You will be asked for proof of your identity &/ or your eligibility, your failure to provide such proof in accordance with the timescales set out herein will result in your disqualification from the competition.

Any person who breaches any of these Terms and Conditions will be excluded from access to the Competition.

How To Enter & Entry Rules 

The Competition opens at 09:00 on 10th January 2018 and closes at 17:00 on 1st February 2018. 

However, there are only 4 periods within which you can enter the Competition (“the Entry Period(s)”), as set out below: 

  1. Between Wednesday 10th January 2018 09:00 and Thursday 11th January 2018 17:00.
  2. Between Wednesday 17th January 2018 09:00 and Thursday 18th January 2018 17:00.
  3. Between Wednesday 24rd January 2018 09:00 and Thursday 25th January 2018 17:00, and
  4. Between Wednesday 31st January 2018 09:00 and Thursday 1st February 2018 17:00.

Any entries received outside of the Entry Periods above will not be entered into the Competition. 

By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by all of these Terms and Conditions and you understand that you are providing your information to AETN UK.

You can enter by the competition by retweeting the competition tweet relevant to this Competition and following @HistoryUK

Each time you retweet the competition tweet will constitute an Entry. 

This Competition is free to enter, no purchase is necessary.  You can only enter the Competition once.

We will not accept any responsibility for Entries not properly received, incomplete, incorrectly completed or delayed due to technical problems.  In addition, we will not accept any responsibility for any technical or other error that may arise with any Entry.

Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Responsibility cannot be accepted for entries not properly received, incomplete or delayed due to technical problems.

By entering the Competition you understand that you are providing your information to AETN UK and agree for your full name and any photos that you are required to send on to us, will be used for commercial & promotional purposes by us, without the need for us to verify your details.

Closing Dates

The closing dates for submitting your Entry will be different for each Entry Period and are noted above under the section “HOW TO ENTER & ENTRY RULES”.

The Prizes

There will be 4 Prize Bundles.  Each Prize Bundle will include a mini metal detector and a skull shot glass.

Selection of Winners 

Every Thursday commencing 11th January 2018 and ending 1st February 2018 (inclusive) all Entries received during that Entry Period will be collated and 1 Entry will be selected at random (“Selected Entries”).    

All of the Selected Entries will be contacted within 7 (seven) days of their selection via direct message to the twitter account provided on their Entry and they will be required to prove their identity and verify their eligibility to enter the Competition before they are deemed a Winner of the Competition and a Prize sent to them.

The decision of who is selected to win a Prize by the judges is final, and no correspondence or discussion concerning any of the selections will be entered into.

  1. you are one of the Selected Entries but after entering the Competition subsequently delete your email account/ twitter account, we will not be able to contact you to award you the Prize and your Entry will be deemed invalid.

Each of the Selected Entries will have 7 (seven) days from the time of their selection notification message to respond and verify their eligibility to enter the Competition. 

If a sender of a Selected Entry does not respond and provide proof of their eligibility within 7 days their Entry will be deemed invalid and an alternative winner may be selected (“Alternative Winners”).

Alternative Winners may have a shorter time period to respond with their proof of eligibility and this will be stated in our request for proof of eligibility email.

Eligibility to win the Prize is subject to you and your Entry’s compliance with these Terms & Conditions. If you are a winner of one of the Prizes and we subsequently discover that you have breached these Terms & Conditions (such breach to include but not be limited to you providing inaccurate personal information) you will be disqualified from receiving a Prize and your Entry will be deemed invalid.

Our decision is final and no discussion as to the selection of any of the Entries will be entered into.

Lost or Damaged Entries 

If we do not receive an Entry from you then we cannot enter you, regardless of whether you sent an email to us.  Also, if we receive an Entry from you that is illegible or incomplete or otherwise deficient we will not be able to enter you. We will not accept proof that an email was sent as proof that we received it.

Photos and Filming of the Winners

In respect of any photographs that you send to us and/or any filming that we may take of you and/or your companion(s) enjoying your Prize, you hereby assign to us full copyright and all other rights. This lasts for the full period of copyright and you agree that you will help us by carrying out anything required by us to give effect to this clause. We shall be free to assign such rights to third parties.

Use of Your Personal Details

We will use your personal details to enter you into the Competition. Where we or other companies in our corporate group or related third parties want to use your personal details for other purposes (such as marketing) we will offer you the opportunity to agree or to refuse this.

Your personal details will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy from time to time and in accordance with the law as it relates to people’s personal details.

Our Liability to You

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions removes or limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for any liability which cannot be limited or excluded by the law. These Terms and Conditions also do not affect the rights that are granted to you as a consumer by the law. Otherwise, we will not be liable to you for any matter relating to the competitions offered by us.

We will also not be liable to you if you suffer loss or inconvenience because of the failures of persons or systems that we do not directly control – for example, mobile phone network operators, internet service providers, software providers and telephone traffic handlers.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
