Ajax Bay HospitalThe abandoned slaughterhouse and refrigeration plant at Ajax Bay. This building and its surrounding ground became the Commando Brigade’s logistic support area. Red Cross insignia could not be used for the medical facilities because of the close proximity of ‘legal’ targets such as food, water and ammunition. The windowless mutton storage area lies at right angles to the refrigeration rooms and slaughterhouse.
