(born Dec. 9, 1932, Ebensburg, Pa., U.S.—died Nov. 26, 2007, near Freer, Texas) U.S. jockey. He became the second jockey (after Eddie Arcaro) ever to win five Kentucky Derbies (1957, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1969). In 1956 he became the first jockey to win $2 million in a single year; he surpassed $3 million the following year. In 1972 he became the fifth jockey ever to win more than 4,000 races.
